Amy Schumer has just made history.

The American stand-up star has been ranked fourth in Forbes' 2016 list of the highest paid comedians. It's a significant achievement in itself, but Schumer's appearance in the annual ranking is particularly ground-breaking, as it's the first time the business magazine has included a woman on this list.

Forbes estimates Schumer made $17 million last year, a figure that highlights her success across both television and film. In a report on her earnings, the magazine credits her award-winning television show Inside Amy Schumer as well as her tour and $8 million book deal as the main contributors to her multi-million dollar salary.

It's an impressive sum, and her role in Trainwreck plus a Super Bowl commercial with Bud Light are also said to have added to Schumer's financial gain.

As for the richest comedian in the world? Kevin Hart has taken the top position from Jerry Seinfeld, who had been placed at number one for the last 10 years, thanks to his $87.5 million earnings.
