In the hours following news of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce, memes of Pitt's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston (the woman he was rumored to have left for Jolie over a decade ago and who spent years being the tabloids' "will poor Jen ever find love again?" target) flooded Twitter. A laughing Aniston appeared on the Brangelina cover of theNew York Post the next morning; paparazzi were eager to catch Aniston's first appearance out since the news broke to see her reaction. This response—to loop Aniston into a narrative that she has nothing to do with and has moved so far beyond—is "nonsense," her husband Justin Theroux told Business Insider.

"There's an endless appetite for trash, apparently, though everyone would say that they don't have that appetite," he told the outlet while promoting his new film Girl on the Train. "But I think a lot of people do because people buy it. But there are bigger things to bitch about. It's shocking how much bandwidth things can take up when there are far more important things going on in the world."

On the divorce himself, Theroux offered his condolences to the six Jolie-Pitt children. "As a child of divorce, all I can say is that's terrible news for those children, and that's all you can really say. It's boring to sort of comment on anything else. People are having a bad time, that's horrible."
