Blake Lively was one of many celebrities to take a stand on social media yesterday in support of trans rights after President Donald Trump announced a ban of transgender military service members. "THIS is America," she wrote. "WE the people. ALL THE PEOPLE. Today I stand with our fellow citizens. No human being is a burden. I believe in equality. In freedom. In opportunity. In kindness, acceptance, and fairness. I believe in this country, so I, and many others, sign the petition linked in the bio. Please join..๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’™"

Lively's activism got a mix of praise and some hate in her comments. And she took a moment to respond directly to one troll who wrote, "You catching that unfollow for this." Her reminder to that user was that love is greater than hate.

"I choose love. That's the only thing that we all have," she wrote. "It is peace. It is happiness. Not follows or unfollows. I wish happiness for you. And I hope you find that your heart has a bigger capacity than you give it credit for. I know it does."

The remark echoes what Lively told ELLE.com at an event in November after the election. During these times especially, women and anyone discouraged should "use your voice. Don't let anybody silence you, ever, and it's about spreading love, you know?" she said. "Because that's the easy thing to do right now, is to sayโ€”women, you get angry or you get upset or you get hurt and you want to lash out, but what we're combatting is hate. So it's about spreading love and using your voice."
