Teen heartthrob Ansel Elgort appears to be going through an emo phase.
On Sunday night, the actor attended the 2016 VMAs decked in black from head-to-toe, including patchwork pants and what appeared to be a straightjacket-inspired coat. While the outfit was reportedly Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2017, it had the effect of making Ansel look more like an employee at Hot Topic in 2005.
Ansel topped the whole look off with a giant safety pin on his lapel, fingerless gloves with spikes on the knuckles, and a shiny pair of combat boots. He even looked extra pouty, as if channeling his inner angry teen. (Same, Ansel. Same.)
Who's to say this chain doesn't double as a way to keep his wallet close at hand?
Of course, the ensemble was an atypical look for the normally preppy and clean cut star, and the internet quickly took notice.
