Beyoncé Resurrects the Early 2000s Power Suit

While Beyoncé may be forward-thinking (surprise album! Lemonade!), last night she took a style cue from decades past. She and Jay Z attended the New York City premiere of Usher and Robert De Niro's movie Hands of Stone wearing matching gray suits, as documented by Usher's excellent Snapchat:

Beyoncé's, however, was pinstriped, double-breasted, and a skirt suit.

The get-up, from Pallas Paris, is something we haven't seen the likes of since Ally McBeal, the legal dramedy that ran from 1997 to 2002.

Just yesterday, a report in The Wall Street Journal noted that Michael Kors, Tory Burch, and Courrèges all brought back Ally McBeal–style skirt suits for fall 2016. So, it turns out Beyoncé is just ahead of the trend. Of course.

On top of the power suit, Beyoncé had a throwback hairstyle as well. The half-up do with curls feels very Destiny's Child era, no?
