As it turns out, one temporary antidote to pandemic-induced anxiety is Harry Styles and a guitar. All it took was about 20 minutes and four songs off his latest album Fine Line to convince me that everything was going to be, well, fine. There's no way Styles could've known that by stepping into the cramped quarters of NPR Music's Washington, D.C. office that he'd be speaking so directly to the current moment.

Surrounded by books and knick knacks and with slightly unkept hair, one (admittedly broken) person could argue that Styles and his set imitate the mix of emotions that is quarantine right now.

"Cherry" is an ode to a love lost (so long, happy hour). "Watermelon Sugar" is about the wistful feeling you get when you start dating someone. (I'll get to date again one day!) "To Be So Lonely" is self-explanatory and "Adore You" is just a comforting track to play as you cope with the news cycle. From the slightly chaotic energy of ex Taylor Swift's Lover album visible in the background to Styles's undecipherable (baby chicken?!) sweater, this is a video for our times.

"I have to come into NPR more often," Styles said after he and his band's first song. No arguments here.
