OMG I am obsessed with this fabulous little four-year-old reading prodigy. Obsessed! Daliyah Marie Arana of Gainesville, Georgia got to meet Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress, and was made "Librarian for the Day" because she's read 1,000 books in her short lifetime.

Well, not because she's read 1,000 books. She was made Librarian for the Day because she's 100% fierce and the matching bow and glasses scream "My curatorial priorities are on point."

I am in awe of this kid and I am also consumed with that special envy that only comes when you're a regular adult looking at an extraordinary kid. This is way I feel every time I watch a Kid President video. How dare he be so inspirational? And where does he get all that energy from? I need a nap just looking at him. Although, have you seen Kid President lately? He's more like Pre-Teen President. I turned on a video and heard this new James Earl Jones voice and I was shewk! Time comes for us all, right? LOL. Sigh.

I'm nervous for Teen President. The videos will be surly complaints and random confrontational statements that come out of nowhere. I can't even imagine what that will be like.

Daliyah, however, is legit a kid. She's four-years-old and she's been reading since she was two years-old. I also started reading at two, but that was mostly critiquing people's fashion choices and writing snarky recaps of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood in crayon.

"Who is doing Lady Elaine Fairchilde's makeup, child? That rouge has gone rogue and I am gagging! I continue to be here for that latter-day Julie Andrews bob, however."

Anyway, in this episode she continues to slay all these basics with her effortless fierceness. Why does King Friday even try, honestly? If you ain't got a Boomerang-Toomerang-Soomerang, you ought to just sit down, toots."

Those recaps were everything.

Also everything: this four-year-old prodigy!

She has read 1,000 books in two years! Meanwhile, I'm still trying to get through A Little Life.

January 1: I'm going to get through A Little Life this year!

December 31: I wish there was just a little less life, tbh.

Daliyah, meanwhile, read A Little Life on the day it came out. (She thought it was well written but dark. Four stars.) She's read everything, including this college-level speech:

I would pay good money for an evening of this little girl reading the collected speeches of Michelle Obama, actually. Like, actually. Dear Hollywood: please make this happen. Dear Michelle Obama: please make this happen. Dear Lady Elaine Fairchilde: please make this happen.

Daliyah got to tour the Library of Congress and meet Dr. Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress, and an extraordinary person in her own right. It was fierce meets fierce. All of the books caught on fire.

Daliyah was named Librarian for the Day, which I'm going to assume comes with lifelong shushing privileges, a huge stamp with the date on it, and the ability to read Congress for filth.

I would love it if, immediately upon being named Librarian, Daliyah had taken off for the stacks, giving a series of decrees about the library's collection priorities.

"We're going to need to double our collection of pony and small horse-related material, stat. Now, please direct me to the archival footage of Barney and Friends. I would like to review it before lunch."

So busy. So fabulous. Read on, Daliyah!
