Page Six ran an extensive report this weekend on the status of Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss' friendship. The outlet got comments from Kloss' rep who officially set the record straight on why Swift didn't attend either of Kloss' two wedding celebrations. Kloss and her husband Joshua Kushner first got married on October 18, 2018 in upstate New York; that wedding had about 80 people, according to People.
They celebrated their nuptials with a larger group (including Katy Perry) in Wyoming months later in June 2018.
According to a source close to both Swift's and Kloss' camps, Swift was invited to both occasions. Kloss' rep said she was "unable to attend due to prior commitments." In the case of Kloss' October wedding, Swift was on her Reputation world tour in Australia. She posted an Instagram Story shortly after news of the wedding broke of herself on the other side of the world, in Perth.
Kloss' second wedding was the weekend of June 20 to June 23. Swift was silent on social media around that time (she had just released her "You Need to Calm Down" music video). But Swift has been working behind the scenes to prepare for the launch of her next album Lover on August 23. For example, she revealed in her last Instagram Live on July 23 that she was shooting a music video then, so much of her work has been done in secret.
Kloss' rep's clarification helps debunk rumors that Swift did not attend because she and Kloss had a fallout or because Kloss' manager Scooter Braun—who bought Swift's masters and provoked her to write an open letter about how upset she was about the purchase because of his "incessant, manipulative bullying" of her—was at both occasions. Kloss' rep confirmed that Swift and Kloss were still friends, a fact that Kloss herself acknowledged in March. When asked about Swift's ELLE essay and what she wrote about her early twenties friendships, Kloss complimented Swift. “Taylor is incredible, and I feel really lucky to call her a friend, and she’s one of the hardest working women, and I loved her essay," she said.
