The Arrivals Rainier Jacket
"After spending a full year debating whether I needed this gorgeous leather jacker or NEEEEEEDED this gorgeous, perfect, omgitssogood leather jacket, I finally pulled the trigger. For a leather item, it actually feels reasonable on the splurge scale, and I've gotten good use of it through the fall, spring, and even winter months (it's super warm! it has detachable furriness!). Bonus: I always, always get compliments when I'm wearing it...which is priceless, obv." —Sally Holmes, Deputy Editor

Kuwaii Darby Platform with Perforation
"After years of throwing away crappy shoes that only last one season, I'm no longer skittish about putting down decent money for footwear if I can afford it. Still, this pair, from Australian label Kuwaii, was a tough buy. On the one hand, they are neutral enough to go with everything, giving this five-foot-nothing woman a bit of height, and are made in my hometown of Melbourne. On the other hand, I didn't have any money at the time, and they are—let's face it—a glam nurse shoe. Fast forward to now and I'm still glad I bought them. They've lasted the distance and are comfortable enough to wear every day." —Estelle Tang, Culture Editor

Stuart Weitzman Broadband Sandals
"I tend to stay pretty low in the three-digit range when it comes to sandals. I figure they're a bit like bathing suits: no matter how good your intentions, they rarely last another summer. But these sturdy, nude workhorses have been a very solid investment. You can tromp all over town in them, and yet they still look classy and elevated, plus the neutral color means they go with just about any outfit you can conjure." —Chloe Schama, Executive Editor

Alice + Olivia Jenna Floral-Print Platform Wedge Sandals
"The island-y floral print is what drew me in first. Then the comfort factor—not-totally-clunky, lightweight wedges. Something my closet had been looking for! And they'd be are perfect for a night out dancing in Cuba (at least that was what I told myself when I bought them.) I even imagined the outfit they would complete: a high-waisted navy, a-line skirt from Zara, with a cropped denim v-neck tank from Aritzia (all blue everything), and a red lip. Sadly these wedges have only gotten as far as Hearst Tower. I have no regrets though! Summer has just begun and I will find an excuse to wear them again soon." —Mariel Tyler, Photo Editor

Junya Watanabe Jeans
"I make a concerted effort to never go full retail. This applies to everything—clothing, groceries, shampoo, tampons, EVERYTHING. Keeping to this rule, a good chunk of my closet comes from eBay, like my favorite pair of Junya Watanabe jeans, a fringed runway style that I scored on a hefty discount. This patchwork option is just as good as the one I found, and they're on sale too!" —Justine Carreon, Associate Market Editor

Celine Medium Trotteur Bag
"I bought this bag in Paris last year—it is by far my biggest ever splurge and the first really nice bag I have ever owned. Though it was insanely expensive, I wear it every single day. Cost per wear, I figure? I made sure to purchase it in a brick red color so it adds a nice bit of color to my usually grey/black/navy wardrobe." —Leah Chernikoff, Editorial Director

"When you can get away with wearing the world's oldest t-shirt to bed, spending a lot on PJs seems kind of ridiculous. Yet I've never, ever regretted splashing out on a silk pair. They feel amazing on my skin, but best of all, the natural fiber really seems to regulate my body temperature. I'm never too hot or cold no matter the season. I swear I get the best sleep when I wear them." —Leah Melby Clinton, Senior Editor of Branded Content

"The biggest splurge I've ever made was a bag that I'd wanted for years and years: The Chanel Golden Class Double CC bag. I missed it the first time around, prompting me to (not-so-silently) pine after it. And then one day like magic, it popped up at Jeffery's in the Meatpacking District. I put my credit card down and have never looked back. Knowing that it appreciates in value year after year has helped my feel ok with my purchase."—Nikki Ogunnaike, Senior Fashion Editor
