Warning: This article contains spoilers for Season 7 of Game of Thrones.

Foran episode that featured a literal zombie dragon, the ending of Sunday night's Game of Thrones was surprisingly tender, featuring a sweet moment between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. And in case you're still in denial about their relationship, it's basically official at this point: They're going to be a couple. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Alan Taylor, who directed Sunday night's "Beyond the Wall," says it's totally obvious what's going to happen next for them:

"There's no secret that this is where this is going. Readers of the book have known that things were heading towards this destination for a while. Even the characters in this story know it's heading in this direction. Tyrion is making fun of Dany about what's brewing. So we knew it's got to come at some point, and I was glad that I got to be there for a major step forward for them."

Taylor notes that their intimate scene together was the beginning of both a strategic and romantic partnership. "The fact that Jon's willing to now bend the knee to her as the next queen is a huge political step," he said. "The fact that they are starting to fall for each other is huge."

And Taylor is right—anyone with eyes can figure out that they're starting to feel lovey-dovey for one another. "It comes down to tiny moments and how they interact with each other," he said. "They're holding hands and there's this great look where she's swooning and she steps back from it, but it's clear that that's our destination at this point."

Of course, Taylor hasn't been the only one to blab about Jon and Dany. He said in a separate interview that author George R.R. Martin chatted about the coupling way back when they were filming the show's first season. "He alluded to the fact that Jon and Dany were the point, kind of," Taylor recalled.

And showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said in an "Inside the Episode" segment several episodes ago that this was where they were headed. "They're starting to be attracted to each other," Benioff said. "And so much of it is not from dialogue or anything we wrote. It's just the two of them in a small space, standing near each other, and us just watching that and feeling the heat of that."

The fact that they are technically aunt and nephew? Not really mentioned, at least yet. But since incest has been a Game of Thrones thing for a while now, perhaps it's old hat by Season 7.
